Medical Coding - This program teaches students the medical coding conventions and guidelines for the ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT and Level II HCPCS medical coding system and how to apply the rules to assign codes for patient medical services accurately. A variety of healthcare payer systems is also presented that includes Medicare, HMOs, PPOs and managed care. Additionally, emphasis is placed on the importance of professional business writing, to enable the student to communicate clearly and effectively with insurers and other business entities. Employment of medical records and health information technicians is expected to increase by 20 percent, much faster than the average for all occupations through 2018.*

Pharmacy Technician - The essentials of medical history, pharmacy settings, drug regulation and administration are just some of the subjects reviewed with the pharmacy technician program. Students learn to assist the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to individuals, which may include drug distribution, inventory management, pharmacy administration and customer service to patients. Additionally, a comprehensive review of English Composition and Algebra enable the student to firmly grasp the importance of good communication and mathematics in this growing field. Finally, the program prepares the student to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam. Employment of pharmacy technicians and aides is expected to increase by 25 percent from 2008 to 2018, which is much faster than the average for all occupations.*
